WATCH: Giant camels once roamed North America

Some 45 million years ago camels lived in the snowy climate of North America and even the arctic regions.

They are said to have been 30% bigger than modern day camels, but otherwise pretty similar.

The alpacas and llamas that still live in the chilly high mountains of South America are probably relatives of these early beasts and are also part of the Camelidae family.
