'Idols SA': Jozi bags 14 golden tickets in the final round of auditions

Cape Town - Idols SA season 15 auditions concluded in the City of Gold where the Idols team went in search for the last group of talent that will battle it out at Theatre Week in the coming weeks.

The hitmaker behind the anthems Charlotte, Mamelodi and Collide, Lady Zamar joined the judge's table with Unathi, Randall and Somizi to sit through the day searching for talent in Joburg.

The first golden ticket went to Mmangaliso Gumbo, 23, from Ladysmith in KwaZulu-Natal. "I like how you sing. You believe what you are saying. It was when you were singing that I felt like it was your song," said Lady Zamar, who gave Mmangaliso the nod.

Somizi was equally impressed by the young woman who travelled more than 500km to grace the Idols Auditions stage. "I am big on people who have voices that stand out and stand alone. Not every successful singer is a great singer. But there's something special about you," elaborated Somgaga.

Joburg was represented well with Noxolo Mabaso, 20, from Soweto who got Somizi shouting, "confidence, confidence, confidence!". She also walked off stage with a golden ticket that was guaranteed by four emphatic yeses.

The last golden ticket of the night went to 29-year-old primary school teacher Innocentia Sibi.

The final Telkom Pop Up Auditions for 2019 took place in Limpopo, Polokwane, making some of the citizens jump in the air with joy and disbelief as they clutched their golden tickets.

86 golden tickets were given away during the nationwide audition tour. Now the golden voices go to Theatre Week where the pretenders will be separated from the real contenders of the ultimate prize.

Let the battle of voices begin!
