Johanna Ramatse who may well be the oldest living person in the world at 134 years old became the proud owner of a refurbished house in Stinkwater township near Hammanskraal, Tshwane on Friday.

The costs to refurbish her house was paid by Pastor Paseka "Mboro'' Motsoeneng of the Incredible Happenings Ministry after he was informed by the African National Congress Women's League that the house was in a state of disrepair.

The cost of the refurbishments was not divulged but repairs were made to the roof and walls.

Motsoeneng who is better known as Pastor "Mboro" said he was alerted by the women's league that there was an old lady in crisis and that she needed help.

"We are here for an old lady; when I was called the house was bad, there was no bed and everything was falling apart, it was a caring ANCWL that invited me and I assisted," said Mboro.

Molo Makhelwane campaign

The ANCWL leadership also attended the official handover of the refurbished house with former AU chairperson Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma as the keynote speaker.

Dlamini-Zuma spoke about an ANCWL campaign called Molo Makhelwane which is Xhosa for "Hi neighbour" and known for healing and caring about the people that live around you.

"This is about caring for one another, this is something we should be doing all the time," said Dlamini-Zuma.

"We are saying that you should care and know your neighbours. Be your brother's keeper," Dlamini-Zuma said, adding that the community should meet the government halfway when there was an issue.

"If there is no food, go to the department of social development so they can help,'' she said.

On working with pastor Mboro, Dlamini-Zuma said that it is no surprise to see the ANCWL working with Mboro.

He endorsed the campaign by the ANCWL saying: "We should love our neighbours and look after each other, and if we continue looking after each other we would have a better South Africa."

Ramatse who was born in 1883 and celebrated her 134th birthday in January, sat in a chair in her room covered in thick blankets. She had a brief conversation with Dlamini-Zuma before falling asleep.

Ramatse may well be one of the oldest living people ever recorded.

According to the Mirror, the oldest living person is Violet Brown from Jamaica who is 117 years old in 2017. According to USA Today, the world's oldest person ever recorded was an Indonesian man who claimed to have been born in 1870 and died on Thursday.

It is believed that he was 146 years old.
