She said that, as a family, they could not take sides because of the relation between Brickz and the girl.

A close relative of Brickz reportedly struggled to fight back emotions – outside the Roodepoort Magistrates Court – as she spoke about the 16-year-old girl who was allegedly raped by the kwaito star

Brickz, who was found guilty of rape last Friday, appeared in court on Thursday morning where sentencing proceedings were postponed.

TshisaLIVE reports that a relative told it that the victim was in therapy and was trying to pick up the pieces of her life.

“Knowing the child and the kind of person she is, there was always a possibility that it’s true. We couldn’t believe it, but we couldn’t take sides because of the relation. We are family and we have been put in a difficult position,” she said.

Even though Brickz was found guilty by the court it seems his family still have hope that the “truth” will be revealed

The relative said that if Brickz was guilty then he deserved to serve time in prison.

“If he is guilty, even 20 years is okay, because the damage he has left on the child is big. Imagine being 16 and raped by a family member. Her future has been affected,” she said.

The relative added that the girl was trying to cope with the incident and was getting counselling to help her move forward.

Brickz will appear in court on August 1 where sentencing proceedings will resume.
