Several customers who reported substantial financial losses after visiting the same restaurant led to a cashier’s arrest in Hopefield on Thursday, the Western Cape Hawks said.

The cashier, 24, was found with an unauthorised point of sale device that allegedly compromised patrons’ bank cards data in the last two months, said Captain Lloyd Ramovha.

He was also found with two bank cards "with questionable authenticity".

The man was expected to appear in the Hopefield Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
