Choc chip biscuits

Makes 60

625 ml (2½ cups) oats

250 g soft margarine

250 ml (1 cup) sugar

2 eggs

500 ml (2 cups) flour

2 ml (½ teaspoon) salt

5 ml (1 teaspoon) baking powder

5 ml (1 teaspoon) bicarbonate of soda

500 ml (2 cups) dark chocolate, chopped

250 ml (1 cup) chopped nuts

Chop the oats with a sharp knife until fine. Cream the margarine and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time and beat well after each addition. Add the flour, salt, baking powder, bicarbonate of soda, the chopped chocolate and nuts. Mix to form dough. Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 190°C and grease a few baking trays. Roll the dough into balls, pack on the trays and flatten slightly. Bake for 10-15 minutes.
