A few months ago I made arrangements with a debt review company to pay off my debts over a certain period. However, before I could finalise it, I found another way to settle the debt and withdrew my application, and they confirmed it. But I recently found out that I’m under debt review when I tried to use my credit card. The bank says the card was cancelled and they can’t clear the blacklisting from the credit bureau, despite the fact that I had paid it off.

Try and get a cancellation letter from the debt review company and use it open a dispute with the relevant credit bureaus. This process will only be completed within 20 working days, in line with the National Credit Act (NCA).
