Durban July Fever broke out as Flying Fish added even more flavour with the Chilled Green Apple Launch Durban

This weekend, everyone who’s anyone jetted off to the Zulu Kingdom to witness SA’s best thoroughbreds bolt down the home straight to the finish line of the Vodacom Durban July.

South African Breweries’ first flavoured beer – Flying Fish – delivered on its promise to add some flavour by launching its refreshing new variant: Chilled Green Apple.

Flying Fish is the enemy of the mundane. Marked as the official start of the 2015 Vodacom Durban July, the exclusive event hosted at uShaka’s Cargo Hold Aquarium invited guests to experience an evening with a twist with the new Flying Fish Chilled Green Apple variant. Hosted by Flying Fish ambassador and MTV VJ Nomuzi Mabena, and supported by YFM’s Ankle Tap on the decks, the Flying Fish Chilled Green Apple launch proved that doing things a little differently is the new cool.

With a submerged shipwreck as the backdrop, the lucky guests enjoyed a deep-sea diving experience while chef extraordinaire and foodie hero Nthabi Ramaboa prepared a food-meets-beer pairing evening. Chef Nthabi explained how she was inspired by the refreshing taste of Chilled Green Apple, and how it inspired her to take the guests on a culinary journey bursting with flavour.

VIP guests and local celebrities including Tamara Dey, Pallance Dladla, Terry Pheto, RnB & House singer Bucie, Uzalo actor Kay Sibiya and Mampho Brescia to mention a few dined with sharks and were amongst a select few to be the first to enjoy the refreshing taste of Chilled Green Apple over a 3 course meal infused with Apple flavours. “It is quite exciting to see brands like Flying Fish continue to push boundaries and create more options for the flavoured beer category. We like choice and the Chilled Green Apple will be sitting right at the top of my bar collection, perfect for every occasion,” concluded film and TV star Pallance Dladla.
