Not long ago Tumisho Masha made headlines for defending the pastor of a Sandton church who made headlines in an apparent "racist" sermon. Now, we have come to learn that the star allegedly bashed his wife Zozibini after she spread rumours that he was a drug junkie, a drunkard and an irresponsible father.

It was reported that Tumisho allegedy kicked Zozibini in the stomach, slapped her in the face, pulled her hair, hit her with an elbow at their home in Dainfern, Joburg.

It was further reported that he also smashed his wife's phone when she tried to call police to come to her rescue during one of their squabbles.

In an interview with a  weekend newspapers Tumisho threw cold water on these allegations.

“Yes. I can confirm we have been having troubles in our marriage,” Masha said. “But did I slap her? No. Did I kick her in the stomach? No. I didn’t do either of that. I’m not a woman or wife basher,” he said.

“While there, she told one of my close friends, who I have known for at least a decade, that I was a drug addict, a drunkard and an irresponsible father,” said the veteran actor.

He went on to admit that he drinks at social gatherings but denies being a irresponsible father. “Yes. I drink during social gatherings and, like any man, I would smoke tobacco occasionally. But I’m neither a drug addict nor an irresponsible father. I was upset. Why would my wife say those things to other people? But I didn’t confront her then.”

“She was so aggressive, accusing me of things. I then went into one of the bedrooms, closed the door and stood behind it because it does not have a key to lock it.”

About the incident in which he broke her phone, he said: "I wanted to address these issues. So, I closed the door and told the nanny to go away. She started screaming for help, saying I wanted to kill her. She tried to call police and I smashed her phone. But I apologised and promised to buy her a new one."

Tumisho feels that family interference is what is causing problems in his marriage.

“Family interference is the main cause of the problems in my marriage. On the day she alleges that I slapped her thrice across the face, I actually wanted to talk to her about her mother’s stay in our house. I didn’t assault her. My wife is light-skinned. How come she went to work that day and nobody noticed anything?”

The actor confirmed that his wife had obtained an interim protection order against him and said he would oppose it in court.

A friend who asked not to be named by the weekend newspaper said Tumisho had allegedly beat up his wife on many occasions.

"She told us that in June, he dragged her by her hair and called her a stupid b***h," told the friend.

Another friend alleged Tumisho,  hit his wife with an elbow in another rhubarb.

"When she screamed, he pushed her onto the bed, held her face down and told her to stop screaming or else whoever would come to her aid would find her not breathing," the tipster said.
