Gay and afraid

I’m a gay guy of 18. I like being gay, but my family doesn’t know about my sexuality and I’m scared to tell them. They are very judgemental and would probably disown me. Should I tell them or not?

Things might not turn out the way you think. Parents always have their children’s happiness at heart, so have no fear. If they are judgemental, they will probably be disappointed at first, but will come to terms with it in time. Being gay is no longer taboo and disowning you would be worse for them, not you. Be brave and tell them about your sexuality, or ask a family member or your teacher to represent you.
