What is happening in Cape Town? 

How do you tarnish Cape Town's cool reputation as the most chilled-out city in South Africa? You send in the Idols judges -  especially Mr Mean Randall Abrahams.

In this week's episode of Idols SA the wannabe singers are trembling with fear, forgetting the lyrics of their well-prepared songs and losing control of their tear-ducts – all because of Randall's intimidating presence in the audition room. The esteemed judge who has been in the Idols judging seat since the very first season of Idols SA and he is currently the man in charge at Universal Music South Africa. Idols is on top form again after new judge Somizi Mhlongo stole the limelight in episode 1.

Luckily Gareth Cliff is in the house as well to calm down some of the completely overwhelmed contestants, and viewers can look forward to more hilarious comments from Somizi and more tears from Unathi Msengana. Unathi, who is in awe of some of the contestants' guts and creativity, is particularly impressed with one contestant's audition, which she called the "coolest audition in the history of Idols.In this two-hour extravaganza filmed at Cape Town's GrandWest Casino and Entertainment Centre, the judges will meet a female rugby player, a beauty queen, an extemporaneous busker, a wrestler, who played the bad boy in the film Spud, and several singer-songwriters. But will any of them actually have talent? Will Cape Town match Pretoria’s haul of 19 Golden Tickets? Or will this episode be a Wooden Mic Special?

You'll find out if you watch Idols SA in HD on M-Net, channel 101 on DStv, or on Mzansi Magic, channel 161 on DStv, this Sunday (19 July) at 17:00. And as always all the auditions will once again be played on the Idols SA Extra channel, channel 199 on DStv, from the time the show's end credits roll.

Next week Sunday the auditions will move to The Playhouse Theatre in Durban, followed the following week by the good, bad – and ugly – at Carnival City on the East Rand. The lucky few who receive a precious Golden Ticket will then face the music again at Idols SA's grueling Theatre Week before the Top 16 will sing for the voting public.
