We live just like a brother and sister.

I am a 37-year-old woman. My husband is HIV positive while I’m negative. It has been a year since we last had sex. We live like brother and sister. We don’t talk about our feelings and never express affection for each other. I don’t know what to do because he is shutting me out. Should we consider divorce?                     ANONYMOUS, SPRINGS

A Go for counselling together as it may be difficult for you and him to be intimate when you have different HIV statuses. Many factors will make it difficult for you to manage this alone. For example, how he got infected, when he got infected, his conduct previously and now, how he feels about it, how you responded to the diagnosis? All these factors will determine how you interact in relation to sex and intimacy now.
