Knowing Keketso Semoko: On fame and life

How do you handle fame?

I don’t think I’m famous. I’m popular because people see me on TV. If you are on TV, you don’t have much of a private life. You also lose your identity, your name and who you are. The South African public is lazy to learn your real name (even though we have credits after every episode). I’m known as Agnes and not Keketso.

Any bad experiences with the media? No, because I respect myself and journalists, and they respect me. I also choose very carefully which interviews I do and what functions I attend. Life

Are you married and do you have children?

I’ve never been married and I don’t have any children.

Do you feel pressurised to marry and have children?

People do pressure me and ask why I haven’t a family of my own. Getting married and having children is an individual decision and ultimately I’m responsible for my choices. Society won’t be there to raise my children if I have them. I have decided to live my life the way I want.
