Maduna nails his solo flight

Jazz vocalist, songwriter and songwriter, Kevin Maduna is making a return to U-Space in Pretoria after fulfilling his duties as 2014 Puisano winner. Puisano is a Gauteng’s Department of Sports, Arts, Culture and Recreation initiative that aims to promote local artists. He has been headlined to the Moretele Tribute Concert, Macufe Jazz Festival, Go West! Heritage Festival and the Standard Bank Joy of Jazz 2014.

Maduna has a Diploma in Popular Music which he studied for at Central Johannesburg College and he is currently working on a Degree in Popular Music at the prestigious University of South Africa.

He has released a single called ‘Man Down’ and on the 19th of September he will be gracing Pretorians with his soulful sounds.  The single was released in mid-August 2015. It has debuted on Radio 2000 and Power FM, and it has been gaining affection ever since.  He says: “inspiration comes from abuse specifically on women not only physically but also emotionally. Women are still the weaker vessel even in this free society we live in.” He further explains that the song is inspired by how love can turn into abuse even in a healthy looking relationship.

Accompanied by the One Love Sextet, his repertoire compromising of his original compositions and some covers, is set to display a strong sense musical evolution in his career as young jazz crooner building a reputable name in the industry.

Maduna will be at U- the Space in Sunnyside, Pretoria on tomorrow 19 September 2015. Tickets at the door cost R50. Doors open at 1pm.
