Media Tech Africa is the largest media and entertainment technology trade show for southern Africa. It hosted a three day trade show from 15-17 July 2015 at The Dome in Northgate. Mediatech Africa presents the latest technologies and trends to southern Africa’s broadcast and film sector and rapidly-growing live event and AV system integration industries. The trade fair had everything from lighting, sound, audio and video converters to the latest cameras and more on display.

A visitor at the trade show Kabelo Ramputa said “I came here for two things: lighting and camera.” It was very easy finding one’s way, as there were direction signs everywhere from the registration booth to each of the entrance points available.

Dr Pascal Dietrich was one of the exhibitors. He is the founder and CMO of KLANG Technologies, a 3-D in-ear monitoring company, he said his company is based in Germany but it offers its services all around the world.

Stefan Nell is the Head OF Department at Visual Impact and he showed us their all-purpose cameras and how although they are expensive, they are worth it. From recording mere videos to an entire movie, the cameras are said to be ready to do the job.

Tammy Pretorious from Cape Audio College in Cape Town says that they attend the trade show every two years to check out new gadgets on the market.

Musicians and gospel music couple Bongi and Collin also attended the trade show and bumped into Arthur Mafokate, Thebe and a lot more artists. “It’s good to see artists empowering themselves” they said.

Registration was free from January 2015 using a unique code before 10 July 2015, after it cost R100 to register.
