Raaloe Media hosted the first annual MzansiGospel Awards Nominees Party to honour those stars who shone brighter than others in the contemporary gospel music industry. This star studded event was held at the Mosaic Communio at Mosaiek Teatro.

This glitzy event was attended by the key players in the gospel industry, different media houses as well as the stars of the night, the nominees for these prestigious awards. It was a night to remember as we were serenated by the sweet sounds of accappela band Just6 who gave an amazing performance. We also had performances by Mabongi, Lebo Segobela, Sandile Cele and Blaque Nubon. The performances were a testament of what these awards are about, which is the contemporary and unconventional side of gospel music. Lebo Segobela got the house in worship as she gave a moving contemporary medley of some traditional hymns.

Mpho Regalo, our fallen soldier in the gospel industry, who was also going to be part of the performances in these awards was honoured and remembered with a moving tribute by Mabongi and Sandile Cele.

MzansiGospel Awards founder Edzani Raloe gave a very clear picture of what the awards are about, clarifying that MzansiGospel Awards are here to complement the other awards in the gap that he saw of the very fast growing genres within the gospel music industry, the contemporary and the unconventional gospel music. “We vow to be the multiracial awards that honour both black and white artists in the growing genre of contemporary and unconventional gospel music. The day you see us being blacks only awards don’t be afraid to call us into order. We also seek to honour excellence so if you are that artist whose album is made of 90% covers of traditional songs and very little of your own work then you will have to go back to the drawing board before you can be recognised by MzasiGospel Awards,” he emphasised.

MzansiGospel Awards ceremony will be held at the Mosaiek Tetro on the 13th of June 2015.
