Teargas is made up of three like-minded young men namely; Ntokozo “K.O.” Mdluli, and two brothers Ezee “Ma-E” Hanabe and Bantu “Ntukza” Hanabe.

They all met at tertiary where they became best friends due to common musical interests in Hip Hop. Although the group officially came into being in 2004, prior to that the guys were mostly making moves in the underground Hip Hop circuit. Their debut albumK'Shubile K'Bovu was released in 2006 to widespread positive reception with their hit single “Another Chance” topping charts across the South African landscape.

Among the endless list of the bands’ accolades is a nomination for the 2009 Channel O Music Video Awards in Best Southern African Music Video category for the single‘Take You Out’. No strangers to collaborations, the group have worked with the who’s who of South African musical talent from Bongo Riot to rock band, Inersha.

This has helped to cement their position as a pillar of the local Hip Hop community while securing them a reputation as artists who, never failing to surprise, still manage to transcend the boundaries of the genre. Their latest album Num8er Num8er features collaborations with the likes of 2face Idibia and Toya Delazy.
