Toilet paper truck driver caught with 78kg dagga stash at border

A truck driver who was transporting toilet paper to Namibia was arrested for allegedly dealing in dagga, Northern Cape police said on Wednesday.

The truck was searched at the Nakop border post, near Upington, on Tuesday morning, the South African Police Service said on its Facebook page.

Officers searched a toolbox and found 78kg of dagga stashed inside.

The dagga had an estimated street value of almost R400 000.

It was confiscated together with the truck and a cellphone.

The driver, 46, would appear in the Upington Magistrate's Court soon.
