Unilever is committed to create worldwide positive change through its brightFuture campaign: take climate action now.

#tweetforatree will see Unilever plant one tree in South Africa on behalf of a tweeter.  Mi Casa, AKA, Roger Goode, DJ Ready D, Minnie Dlamini, Proverb, Nomuzi, Khabonina Qubeka, and Amanda du Pont came to support the event.

The social campaign sits at 3.7 million and it continues to grow as days go by. In total 62 832 trees have been pledged so far across Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, and the continued growth is sure to double this number.

Senior Brand Manager, Unilever Bright Future SA, Queen Mgobhozi said: “What an amazing night. Young people joined together for a good cause and were tweeting like crazy. Our MC Nomuzi Mabena and our incredible line up of artists were behind the cause and made sure that #TweetForATree and #brightFutureSA spread far and wide overnight. Simply amazing!”

Unilever has partnered with Wildlands and their aim is to plant 1 million trees in the next three years, in designated areas around South Africa. To celebrate Arbour month, Unilever will venture into mall activations in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban where you will be asked to tweet or pledge online for a tree to be planted on your behalf.

The aim is to spread the word about climate change and get as many tweets and pledges as possible to plant more trees. To find out more about Unilever brightFuture and how Unilever is combatting climate change, visit www.brightfuture.unilever.co.za
