Wandile Molebatsi’s new film Safe Bet has opened in Mzansi cinemas, after getting international recognition.

The comedy sees Wandile play a down and out do-gooder Frank, who is swayed to take the easy way out by investing in a get rich quick scheme using stolen money.

Wandile is awesome in this role and is complimented by Godfrey Thobejane, who plays his best friend Khaya.

“It’s been great being part of the film from pre-production to seeing it hit the cinemas. It was a great experience working with Luthuli Dlamini and all the other cast, including director and producer, Bonginhlanhla Ncube,” he said.

The film has already won numerous awards such as at the Global Independent Film Awards, Silicon Valley African Film Festival, Bronzelense Film Festival and the Queen City Film Festival.

The film will have a special screening on 14 April in London, as part of an initiative called Bioskope.

The initiative gives filmmakers a platform to show off their work in the UK.

The screening will take place at the Private Cinema, Courthouse Hotel, 19 to 21 Great Marlborough St, London W1F 7HL.

The film offers thrill-a-minute action with plots and twists aplenty to keep the audience guessing at every turn.
