Does this mean Zahara’s music will take a back seat to her new taxi business?

While most entertainers use their brand to start clothing lines or release perfumes, Zahara has other things in mind. The Loliwe singer has reportedly decided to venture into South Africa’s taxi business.

TshisaLIVE reports that she has started a business called ‘BeeZee’, with her sister Bandezwa.

Their company’s taxi service will operate in East London and Johannesburg.

Zahara and her sister also plan to open a butchery in East London and a car wash business in Jo’burg. Speaking to TshisaLIVE, Zahara says her new business will also provide a loan service to people all over SA.

The musician and her sister came up with their business idea after hearing a number of complaints about the taxi and money-lending industries.

“Loan sharks are doing the wrong thing. They are providing loans and then demanding money back at huge interest. I want to change the way people lend money. It is the same with taxis. I remember riding in taxis and thinking how it could be so much better if one or two things were changed (sic),” Zahara told the publication.

She added that she was not afraid of entering the sometimes-volatile taxi industry

“I am not scared of taxi violence or anything like that, because I have a family member who is involved in taxis and knows all the details of the industry. I want to launch before the November/December transport rush when people go home.”

Zahara says she plans to launch her new ventures after the release of her new album in September.

Her sister will handle the day-to-day operation of BeeZee.
