One of the most hard-hitting rappers to come out of South Africa will be releasing yet another seminal album, appropriately titled ‘Impande’ (the root).  The album is available at Music retail store nation-wide from the 21st of April.  Zakwe fans who cannot wait for the physical album will be able to purchase a digital copy via iTunes from 6 April and will immediately receive two instant grat tracks on the same day and receive the full digital album on the 20th April.

After self-imposed exile as a recording artist Zakwe has come back with more determination and resolve to reclaim his space amongst the biggest rap game changers.

Zakwe’s debut album earned him respect as rapper and became an instant success throughout the country, earning 5 SAMA nominations and winning Best Hip-Hop Album at the MetroFM Awards and Best Lyricist award at the inaugural SA Hip Hop Awards a few years back.

Just like its name, this album is rooted in the hip-hop tradition; it is unforgivingly rap to its core and Zakwe has proventhat he is the real deal in this game and is an emcee that understands the basic tenets of hip-hop - that of story-telling.

Having established himself as a Kasi rapper with a township flavour, when he released his debut album more than 2 years ago,Zakwe has again not disappointed his followers.  The album shows an artist who has been watching on the sidelines and has come out to take his rightful position in what has become the most competitive hip-hop scene.

Various artists showed some love on this album and established rappers like PRO, Zuluboy, Zola 7, and the new hip-hop sensation, Duncan; even Dj Tira threw in his lot as a rapper.  Roping in The Soil, South Africa’s greatest export, as well as the recently crowned Best Jazz Album winner at the MetroFm Awards, Wanda Baloyi, including the silky soulful voice of another revelation Skye Wanda simply completes this album. The album is produced by Sphethu Entertainment renowned producer, Ngane for Native Rhythms Records.
