Former president Nelson Mandela’s face will soon be replaced by current president, Jacob Zuma, on all South African currency …

Following yesterday’s Constitutional Court ruling that President Jacob Zuma would have to repay some of the money spent on upgrades to his Nkandla residence, the presidency announced that it would be replacing Mandela with images of Zuma on all South African currency.

According to the president, he would #PayBackTheMoney, but only if it had his face on it.

The Reserve Bank of South Africa confirmed that it had issued a tender for a bank note re-design, and it would begin rolling out the new currency by June this year. “This has been requested as a matter of urgency by the presidency,” said a spokesperson for the Bank.
