Use the Slimz way for effective results

EVERY woman will attest to this: There is no better feeling in the world than opening your wardrobe, fitting a dress you have not worn for years and it fits! This is a dress that fitted perfectly when you bought it, but stopped fitting along the way because you had picked up weight.

When it finally fits again, it feels like magic. And not just fit, but it is loose as well. 

I am happy to announce that over the last six weeks of using Slimz range of products which include Slimz AdiBurn+1000 Concentrated Drops, AdiBurn 200 Fat Burning Liquid and AdiBurn 75 Once-A-Day Capsules, I have been able to wear dresses I was ready to give up.

Although this is the last week of the campaign with Slimz, my journey of healthy living, that Slimz introduced me to, continues. I have seen the benefits of taking the Slimz range of products, eating healthy and exercising.

That is why today I am going to share 10 important lessons I have learnt about weight loss over the past month and a half that I have travelled with Slimz. The Slimz dietician has advised that since I have lost 5.3kg over six weeks, by 6 April my weight would be down by 10kg and I would have dropped a dress size.

LESSON 1: If you are going to lose weight, you need to commit

How often do you hear people saying they are going on diet and end up doing nothing about it? Going on a diet is a life-changing decision and needs you to commit and take action as well. You need to have honest conversations with yourself about why you are doing this and what you are hoping to achieve. When I embarked on this journey, it was because I wanted to live longer for my two children and so that I don’t become a statistic of the chronic and lifestyle diseases like high blood pressure, cancer and diabetes. 

LESSON 2: You can’t just pop a pill and expect results

The adverts on TV show how you pop a diet pill and viola! In a week or two, you have your desired results. Slimz is realistic and explains that even if you pop the AdiBurn 75 Once-A- Day Capsules or drink the AdiBurn 200 Fat Burning Liquid, you should not expect a miracle. That is why they provide a healthy eating plan, which you need to discipline yourself and follow.

LESSON 3: You are what you eat

I never believed this and viewed it as yet another judgemental cliché. When you eat healthy, you get this amazing glow which shows that you are no longer putting junk in your mouth. Fad diets promote leaving at least one food group out but a healthy diet, like the Slimz way, encompasses all food groups - starch, fruit, vegetables, protein and diary. If you leave one food group out, then you are doing your body an injustice. 

LESSON 4: Sleep is important in your weight loss journey

When you are eating unhealthy, you struggle to sleep. But once you change your diet, your sleeping patterns become better as well. I used to suffer from insomnia but since embarking on the weight loss journey, I am sleeping better. Sleeping throughout the night helps the weight loss process.

LESSON 5: Love your water

We often hear that we need to drink eight glasses of water a day. This is nothing, yet there are people who struggle with this. To be honest, one of the toughest challenges when starting out with the Slimz eating plan was the fact that I had to drink three litres a day. But today, I see the importance of drinking water when you are on a diet. It helps the process and aids digestion.

LESSON 6: This is the only area of life where cheating is acceptable

You will be tempted and feel guilty. It is all part of the journey to crave some things. Spoil yourself occasionally, but don’t make a habit out of cheating as it catches up with you. A moment on the lips is a lifetime on the hips. Whenever I feel like a glass of wine or whisky, 
I go for it but change what I eat for the day. I omit starch from my diet, for example.

LESSON 7: It is an emotional rollercoaster

There will be times when you will be tempted to quit but remember the bigger picture; this is a journey not a process. No matter how long it takes, no matter how many times you fall, pick yourself up and continue from where you left off. When you are travelling for work or attending events, you may give in to junk due to work stress but remember what awaits at the end - a beautiful, healthy and slim you so discipline yourself!

LESSON 8: Marry your diet with exercise

You don’t need to be a gym bunny but take walks at least twice a week. Use the stairs instead of the lift. Exercising assists the slimming products and the diet you are on. It fast tracks the process. Exercising makes you sleep better as well.

LESSON 9: Watch your portions

Rather have five small to medium portions than three heavy meals as this helps make your metabolism work faster. The first 21 days of the #NonzwaSlimzjourney, I weighed my food to get used to the portions I am supposed to have.

LESSON 10: Don’t give up no matter what 

Even if the results are slow, don’t give up. Take each day as it comes and before you know it, getting on the scale won’t be intimidating. Remember not to focus on just the kilograms, the centimetres count as well as they determine whether you fit into the dress you haven’t worn in a long time or not. Every centimetre counts.
