Find out if your favourite soapie will continue playing during lockdown

Lockdown has viewers on the couch binging on their favourites shows on Mzansi screens. This being the perfect escape from the frustrations and anxiety that’s come with COVID-19

Day 35 which will be on April 30 is soon approaching. Since the initial 21-days of lockdown was extended, production has been affected. No set has been operational, all of the shows have had to rely on what is already shot. Move! finds out if your will be able to still watch Mzansi’s loved shows.

e.tv has some of the biggest shows on TV with Rhythm City on 4,9 million viewers, Scandal! on 5,6 million viewers and Imbewu on 4,7 million viewers

Viewers have nothing to worry about, this according to the channel’s managing director, Marlon Davids. “There is sufficient content to keep our viewers informed and entertained during the lockdown period and there has been minimal changes to the on-air schedules,” Marlon reassures.

Skeem Saam

It is one of the most watched shows in Mzansi. The Sepedi drama sights challenges but all within their control.

“It is challenging like with every other show. Production can't go on shooting as per usual, but the lives and safety of people come first,” publicist Sumaya Mogola says. As usual, Skeem Saam viewers can expect more drama especially with Rachel and Marothi storyline which is currently keeping viewers intrigued for their viewership of over 6 million.

Generations: The Legacy

The long-standing soapie boasts a viewership of over 8 million they are all geared up with ready to view episodes.  Publicist Nandipha Pantsi says, “We have enough episodes for the duration of the lockdown. The main challenge is that we are behind our recording schedule. Once lockdown ends, production will be under pressure to catch up. We trust that with big effort and dedication from our cast and crew we will deliver all of our episodes on time,” she says.
