Amazing results for South African Choirs at the 8th World Choir Games 2014

13 July 2014, 15:31
Amazing results for South African Choirs at the 8th World Choir Games 2014. Many people dont even know that an Olympics for choirs exists and takes place every second year.

We have South African Choirs who travel to these competitions on their own expense and bring back gold medals and are crowned category champions.

This was only week one of the World Games and Tygerberg Children's Choir won 2 gold medals, University of Stellenbosch Choir set a NEW WORLD RECORD by achieving 99% in the mixed Choirs category , they were also crowned category winners in 2 other sections, which makes them TRIPLE WORLD CHAMPIONS, University of Pretoria, Camarata won the Champions title in the mixed Youth Choirs category, Kearsney College from KZN won Champions title in Scenic Pop/ Show Choirs Category and South Cape Children's Choir won the Musica sacra with accompaniment in the Open Competition.

This was only week1. Stellenberg Girls Choir and Cape Town Youth Choir still to compete. So sad that this event does not get the kind of coverage in South Africa as it rightfully deserves.

The rest of the world salutes OUR COUNTRY'S talents. All these winning choirs get, is a few seconds during the news bulletin, when they arrive at the airport. I'm a PROUD SOUTH AFRICAN CONDUCTOR CELEBRATING MY COLLEAGUES ACHIEVEMENTS.
