Are dowsing rods scientific proof of Paranormal Activity?

2012-08-25 08:40
What exactly are they? Dowsing rods are said to pick up vibrations in the air,in energy waves etc. Like locating water in a desert for example, buried 15 to 20 feet below ground. Native Americans in New Mexico have, alongside maps and geological data, used dowsing rods to explain paranormal energy and such. Are dowsing rods just a joke with no scientific merits to it with a bunch of hoo haw crap thrown in there for good measure?

That question had long been seen as very controversial by some people? Not disregarding the laws of nature, but it does seem odd that a small trickle of water 6m below ground would have enough magnetic energy to bend or cross two willow withe rods, where as a full creek of water will in no wise affect do the same. Why are dowsing rods users convince that there is a scientific principle at work in using these rods?

It just seems weird to me that if you were truly looking for scientific data to explain the Paranormal, that you would leave out as little a chance for human error as possible in proving such activities. Back in the 18th century it was emanations from atomic particles that made the dowsing work. In the 19th century it was electricity that made dowsing work. In the 20th & 21st century, it had been anything from radioactivity to electromagnetism to human psychology, etc.

What is the plausible theory surrounding dowsing? Scientist agree that the human body in itself might be supersensitive to subtle changes in electric, magnetic and electromagnetic fields caused by underground water or ore. Scientist at Harvard University, dismisses dowsing altogether saying:"Controlled field and laboratory results has not established the validity of dowsing and that the scientific standard for it has no basis in fact."

Would you agree with that?

Infact some argue that it only has a fluky success rate in detecting underground water and metals. Dowsing is as reliable as flipping a coin, hoping to find success. That whatever is behind the use dowsing has a perverse sense of humour. Are dowsing rods useful in Paranormal Activity or is just fake? Does the absence of a scientific explanation for something mean that it all is just remarkable coincidences and nothing more to it? Science can't always explain why certain things happens or give you a viable reason for it.That's just the way it is sometimes.

Dowsing rods are a popular tool in searching for the Paranormal. It can predict the future,it gets use in looking for and finding lost wallets, jewellery, your passport, answers important yes or no questions, can be used with a pendulum over a map in locating tunnels, land mines, bomb or booby traps, etc.

Certain aspects of understanding the human mind and forces of nature still eludes scientist grasp to this very day. Dowsing Rods are "benevolent" tools that helps accentuates physical motor activities that serves it purpose, which to some is not necessarily is ardent proponent for the Paranormal. Then again you decide which is it.
