Dear Politicians and Proteas

A new year is just around the corner and it is time to wish for things. I wish that:

Our cricketers would replace the hugging with high fives and Graham Smith and Jacques Kallis would lose 20 kilos each.

Our leaders would spend less time traveling the world in luxury and more time and effort solving the country's serves serious problems.

Julius Malema would appoint a white person to manage his farm as proof that he is not a racist.

Schoolgirls who manage to complete grade 12 without falling pregnant  would get study bursaries and honorary awards for self-control.

All those who have grown rich overnight by means of Black Economic Empowerment  would in turn empower ten jobless persons from squatter camps.

President Zuma would stick to the speeches prepared for him and avoid making religious statements.

We could be known again as Africa's greatest success story.

The government would rather improve services by privatizing parastatals than ruin the economy by nationalizing mines and whatever takes their fancy.

The young people whose lives and futures have been ruined because of lack of corporal punishment would take the government to court.

The government would realize that their brilliant plans would fail unless they appoint brilliant people to execute it.  

Somebody would explain how the ANC-government still manage to keep the support of the majority while so many live in abject poverty with little expectation of improvement.

The VIP politicians would explain why they need bodyguards and police escorts to protect them seeing that ours is a "civilized" society and also what makes their lives more valuable then everybody else’s.

Julius Malema would explain his obvious virulent dislike of president Zuma seeing that a few years ago he was adamant to fight and die for our first citizen.

The president and cabinet ministers who swore so solemnly and sincerely to serve the people would start doing so.
