Eskom have hijacked us

29 July 2014, 19:00

Anyone out there seen their electricity bill this month? I live in an apartment and my bill has gone from approximately R600 to just over R1000. I am aware of a price increase as at 1 July but was under the impression that it was to be 7 or 8%. Instead it has almost doubled.

Eskom obviously think they can now charge what they like. We are reminded on a daily basis that the grid is running on empty and how they are unable to cope with the demand. This appears to be how they justify the dramatic increases yet, as I understand it, less than 50% of the facilities to generate electricity are not operational.

The sad thing is we are powerless (no pun intended) to do anything about it. Simply put we have no choice. It’s this government that is largely responsible for the state we are in. Every state owned institution is chaos. A perfect example of mismanagement is the recent appointment of Zuma’s daughter, aged 25 with 2 years working experience running a large government department earning R1 million plus.

Please people this is not about “the struggle” or race or anything else. This is about your family and your right to expect the very basics to live a decent life. You deserve it because you pay tax, electricity & water, rates, tolls, lottos etc. Our government and their allies are systematically making us poorer. Do not vote for these people I beg you!
