Is there still hope for South Africa.

04 July 2014, 15:12
With the country staggering from the platinum strike straight into the NUMSA strike one has to wonder what the future holds for us. It looks like the new labour trend is for unions to make unreasonable demands and then call a strike.

Don't misunderstand me. I am not against strike action when employers are unreasonable. After all, the days of slavery are long gone, but why the wanton destruction of property? How reasonable is it to demand a 15% increase in salaries in an economy that is growing at less than 3%? Did any of the striking workers increase their production by close to even 5%?

The only people who gain from strike action are the unions, because they still get paid. That is also the only time they are visible. The rest of the time they are holed up in their palaces with their fancy cars.

A law should be passed that permit people to sue the unions for damage caused by their members during strike action. Should there not be marshals designated by the union at gatherings during strike action? Why are the striking workers allowed to carry knob kieries and other weapons in public? Should they not be arrested by the police?

I am just tired of what's going on in this country. Bring on the comments. I just don't care any more.
We are celebrating 20 years of freedom. Freedom to murder, rape, steal and destroy.
