Is this a bad dream?

2011-12-21 19:00

When I see what is happening in South Africa these days, I frequently have to pinch myself to make sure that I am not having a bad dream. What is going on is so crazy, that it is just like one. Just a few examples.

We have Malema, nothing more than an uneducated township hood, threatening the fabric of the presidency of the country thus the fabric of SA itself even after having been expelled from the ANC. The frightening thing about this is he has done it before and it resulted to a large extent in the current president holding office. How in the most developed country on the continent does a moron like this ever be allowed a voice? It is so obvious that he should be running with the rest of the expelled hoodlums he surrounds himself with as a petty criminal in his township, but not ever dictating national policy. What the hell is happening here? He advocates for South Africa exactly what his hero Mugabe has done to destroy Zimbabwe and people listen to him. Have we all gone mad?

Then we have our president, also the head of the ANC, who has been given the mediation task of ensuring that the Global Political Agreement in Zimbabwe is a success. After all this GPA was the brainchild of the last president, also the head at the time of the ANC. The mediator has given Mugabe though Sadc, deadline after deadline to meet his obligations to this agreement. They have come and gone and all been ignored by the old tyrant and Zanu Pf. I have often wondered how Mugabe had been allowed to keep insulting the mediator, and Sadc, until it all became crystal the other day. At the Zanu Pf congress held in Bulawayo, the ANC stated that it was fully committed to seeing Zanu Pf winning the next election. I really had to pinch myself when I heard this. We all know that they lost the last one and that the only observer country that pronounced that election credible, was South Africa. Now we also know why the report that was submitted to the ANC Government by three SA judges on those elections has never been made public. The ANC even challenged the courts on this matter after the constitutional court ordered the reports be made public. Are we the idiots the ANC obviously takes the South African public to be? It is obvious that the judges made the correct judgement on the manufactured results of those elections that left hundreds of MDC members dead at the hands of Zanu Pf.

So what does this tell us? It tells us that the ANC government cares nothing for human rights or life. It tells us that the ANC Government cares nothing for the rule of law. It tells us that the ANC Government is not concerned about the welfare of Zimbabweans or their own citizens as SA is flooded with Zimbabwean refugee’s taking South African jobs despite SA’s massive unemployment. The other day Zimbabwe was listed as the second worst country in the world to live in, after The Central African Republic, yet this Government is standing behind the party that created that impressive statistic.

We do not need to be reminded again, in any detail, of the wholesale theft taking place in almost every ministry controlled by the ANC or the lack of service delivery or the erosion of the country’s infrastructure.

Little wonder I so often think that this has to be a bad dream.
