Jesus died for the ungodly

27 February 2014, 10:10

JESUS CHRIST DIED FOR THE UNGODLY

If we enter heaven, it is through Jesus bleeding out his life for us. We were in such a danger that only the pierced hand could lift us out of it. If you are not saved, not born again – you are in danger. You will soon die and be lost forever. You will be driven to hell, into everlasting punishment. The cross is a warning sign for you. It warns you that if God did not spare his only son, he will not spare you. It warns you that there is swift and sure destruction coming your way, if you continue to rebel against the LORD.

Only Jesus can deliver you from such a danger. If a lesser price than the life of the son of God was required to save us, Jesus would have been spared. While Popes and priests may perform all their useless rituals – they cannot save a single soul. No priest and no pope can save a sinner from the impending destruction – only Jesus and Jesus alone. Jesus did not die for us because he saw anything good in us. He saw the reverse of good. God, looking down on earth, he saw that, “they are all gone out of the way. There is nothing good in them. Even their best works are like filthy rags.” The LORD Jesus saw that we were without God. In fact, we were the very enemies of God.  We were corrupt, sinful and dead in trespasses. He saw that in us, there was no good thing – but every possible evil thing, so that were lost. Utterly, helplessly and hopelessly lost. Jesus died for the worst sinner. But he also died for you. The LORD saw the direction that such ungodly, sinful and perverse people were taking – and he died for them. Jesus died for such people. What excuse do they have for not coming to him then, since he died for them?

May be you think you are too wicked. You may be right. But Jesus died for the most wicked, sinful people of this world. Surely, your sin cannot be more than the sin of the whole world. The LORD Jesus died for those who were wicked, thoroughly wicked. That includes you.  Jesus came to make the ungodly godly, and the sinful holy. Doctors only cure sick people. Christ died for sinners and for sinners only. Believe in the LORD Jesus, forsake your sins and you shall surely live. Don’t pretend as if you don’t need Christ. Don’t act as if you are good. Don’t dream that you are better than others. Jesus died for the ungodly. Jesus died for you too – yes you.

“Christ died for the ungodly.”
