Major water issues in Imbali

05 May 2016, 07:10  - Joyce.Jagaroo

IN the current water crisis, we expect to experience water cuts, but for the people of Imbali, particularly those in Unit BB, the situation is ridiculous.

Never before have we experienced anything like this.

It is appalling that we are subjected to three to four consecutive days without water. Buckets of water can only go so far, and the supply returns only for a few minutes.

Ours is the only road in Unit BB that experiences such severe shortages in water supply.

What angers us the most is the proximity of the local government elections, which are characteristically filled with many empty promises of change and reform.

I am deeply disgusted at the situation as I have not seen a single water tanker in the area ever since this “water shedding” started.

The people of Unit BB are ratepayers and do not deserve to be subjected to this kind of treatment.

The situation has boiled over to the point where some have decided to boycott the upcoming elections.

I call on the municipality to investigate this matter as one can survive without food for 40+ days, but water, a precious resource placed on Earth for the people to consume, is something that a person cannot gamble with.
