Mixed Martial Art's taking South-Africa by storm

06 June 2013, 15:01

The news that all South-African’s  and furthermore, African MMA fans have been waiting for.

Taking into consideration that MMA is widely recognised as the fastest growing sport in the word, it still came as a shock and surprize when SuperSport today announced a 3 year broadcasting deal with Professional MMA promotion EFC Africa.

The deal includes:

• EFC AFRICA’s traditional live event broadcast will now be extended to feature all five main card bouts, aired live in primetime between 20:00 and 23:00 CAT on SuperSport Blitz, the most widely carried channel on the SuperSport bouquet.
• In a first for EFC AFRICA, live action will also be broadcast in High Definition, giving fans the best viewer experience.
• All live events will also be carried on multiple platforms including DStv Mobile devices, Walka and Drifta, and be streamed online at
• EFC AFRICA will present seven more live events in 2013, starting with EFC AFRICA 20 on 27 June, with at least 10 shows per annum guaranteed in both 2014 and 2015.
• Additional EFC AFRICA events, such as the official weigh-ins and pre- and post-event media briefings will now be carried live on SuperSport Blitz.
• EFC AFRICA programming will now be seen regularly on SuperSport channels throughout Sub-Saharan Africa, via the broadcast of the full EFC AFRICA library.

This could very well mark a massive gain in the sports popularity in this county, as the contact points has thus far been limited to attending live events or on late late night TV.

EFC Africa has been hosting quality events since 2009 and takes very special care of ensuring a safe and entertaining event every single time. With SuperSport’s backing, this will no doubt be elevated to even higher standards.

There are also plans in the pipeline to host events all over the African continent, very possibly beginning with Angola (home to the undefeated EFC FW Champion Demarte Pena)

·         Be sure to tune into SuperSport Blitz 27June at 20:00-23:00 for EFC20 where the EFC LW Champion Costa Ianno will defend his title against Don Madge.

I’m proud to say that finally I get to see my favourite MMA athletes in glorious HD!!

See you Cage Side…

Some Brazil in South Africa

It would seem that there is only one party in South Africa capable of leading us out of the proverbial Amazon Rain Forest with its various indigenous tribes and natural pitfalls which in our context are self-interest, lack of inter-cultural respect, greed and then similarly to Brazil, crime and corruption. Read more...
