A Tribute to a Walking Miracle on This Mother’s Day
Any woman can give birth to a child but it takes a real woman to love, cherish and raise that child.
A loving and caring mother is indeed the most precious gift bestowed upon any child for it’s from within the attributes of care and love that a very tough and unrelenting job becomes one of inspiration, awe and laughter.
A mother knows everything; I’m sure this is how it seems to tiny tots at least. Whereas society dictates university degrees and diplomas for that cozy job of stature in a plush office building a mother does not need any of this. With chapped knees and chafed elbows we ran straight to mommy, for we knew all too well that only a few carefully placed kisses concentrated upon a painful limb usually did the trick: now that’s the doctor in mother, inspired by love.
Magicians never had anything on mother too, for her magic band aids brought immediate relief and all that stuff she so magically conjured from behind an ear, awesome!
As Daniel O’ Donnell performs in the background his version of medals for mothers this mother’s day, these lyrics unexpectedly touches my heart: “if there’s medals for mothers, mama you’d win every one.” I close my eyes in reminiscence to way back when I was being prepped into the person I am today, suddenly realizing the almost tangible truths behind those lyrics. No, university degrees do not make you a better mother. That which comes from within and kept in the confines of the heart makes a mother: for in the heart loves tears are found.
Never Gets A Break…
Working the regular 9 to 5 shift surely has its perks for very soon Friday looms and the weekend winks beyond. Once you sign on to being a mother though the only shift they have on offer is the one known as shift 24/7.
Celebrating Mother’s Day
Mother's Day is celebrated worldwide with gifts, visits, and flowers. Everywhere people appreciate their mothers for all the work they do in raising their children. Mothers need to be celebrated! President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed May 9, 1914, the first Mother's Day. He asked Americans on that day to give a public "thank you" to their mothers and all mothers. In South Africa mother’s day is celebrated on May 11, thus giving us 3 extra days to decide just how to love our mothers on this year’s mother’s day.
