Open letter to Oregan Hoskins

27 June 2014, 19:30

Dear Oregan Hoskins,

Can you please tell this South African Rugby fan what you are thinking by imposing quotas in Rugby, well…quotas in any sport for that matter?

Do you in all your wisdom not think that selecting players based on merit and playing ability would be the best way of growing and creating a powerful rugby team?

Do you not think that by selecting players on merit that you will have the best possible combination on the field?

Or do you, with all your vast experience (including selecting Luke Watson in 2007 and blundering SARU’s relationship with world cup winning coach Jake White) have a master plan that none of us are aware off?

The rugby game paying public expect to see the best from all our teams, and that means the best. Not according to your or Governments racist policies, but according playing ability.

I could not care if the entire team is black; if a player deserves his position he should be picked. Regardless of skin colour.

What this blatant racist attack will do is divide a country that is standing at a new breaking point, pushed by unfair labour practises and communist economic agenda’s. Now added to by your racist policies.

It will undermine all that has been achieved by great black players who have played for the jersey and that would never want to be associated with what you are planning on introducing.

You always try and make things seem complicated when it in actual fact is not.

Sport has nothing to do with colour; you don’t see white South Africa giving a flying pluck about the nations soccer teams colour make up?

Stop interfering with sport, stop using it as a political ploy and stop you BS before you run all the good players out of the country and we are left with egg on our faces like the dismal national soccer team.
