Promotional policy and guidelines.

26 June 2014, 11:00

In any well run business and or corporation there is definite policies in place as too promotions, and any other personnel matters that is relevant to the business and or organization.

Yet within the Department of Correctional Services, that has over 32 000 members (employees) such a promotional policy and guidelines being conspicuously absent in its nature.

One need to ask whether the oblivious state of such a policy is actually being kept under wraps by certain management members, in order to facilitate the road for a Correctional Officer Grade 3 to be appointed to a position of Director (both positions being used hypothetically).

Through its conspicuous absent as a policy document, opportunities for factionalism, cronyism, and nepotism being openly applied in the appointment of employees into higher ranks, and in many an instance, jumping ranks as stated above.

This is indeed a very unhealthy situation within a business and or organization, as employees that have worked in the department, have the necessary experience which is critically important in the management of the department, are overlooked as a natural progression (sequence, succession, development, evolution, headway, progress, advance ) in their careers and available opportunities within the department become specific incumbent orientated and in many cases with the incumbent not having the necessary experience to be functional in the post and performing at maxim levels of productivity, professionalism, efficiency and effectiveness.

Why must there always be something that people exploit, without second thoughts about those that are being infringed in the process?
