Russia and Ukraine

02 March 2014, 13:05

Ukraine President Viktor Yanukovich appeared for the first time since after one week of being no where to be found. This follows the fact that he fled the Ukraine state to Russia from threats of attacks form unknown Russian gunmen who took control of the Ukrainian region of the Crimea‘s city buildings. The Russian federation has granted with no exclusion of military power the right to intervene in these war crimes and atrocities which are building up to what can be said to be a state of emergency in international community.

The continued protests and the violence with threats of attacks have turned the Ukraine into a focus in international affairs. The state of affairs in the Ukraine cannot be ignored. We have heard the president of the United States Barack Obama warning the Russian government to not back up the forces in the Ukraine so

The question is.... Are we now in the international system exposed to a situation whereby we have a low level of national security and balance of power (low level authority in international system)  whereby we will have to use military power when there could be a deliberation and cooperation with heads of states to ensure no blood is shed?

And is this a time where we should just expect anything to occur at any point in time without even considering the necessary effective measures to come up with resolution to be taken up?

My criticism in this article is on the UN Security Council, the fact that the UN chief has called for calm in this situation is not enough, and more input is needed in this issue. While President Yanukovich is quoted in the Aljazeera saying “He will always fight for the Ukraine’s” but with no military power”, but at a later stage before the Russian government takes the decision to intervene with armed forces, we hear Yanukovich saying that he has spoken with the Russian president over telephone, while in fugitive care from fleeing to Russia after he was threatened.

As we follow the story Kiev has warned the Russian federation that military intervention into Ukraine inter-state conflict will cause war.

As i see it, i don’t think that there will ever be peace- , as long as the state- centric and interest safeguarding of individuals rather than of public will and public interest is still taking place.

My question is what’s the solution to this issue of conflict?

Should Russia continue with military intervention to instil justice and order or shall it just let it all be in the hands of the Ukrainians to solve it as a state?

What’s the solution?

Can you read the situation?

The overwhelming majority of parents are not readers. This is not to say that they cannot read, but that they do not read. Reading is a foreign activity for most parents and this does not help their children's literacy. Read more...
