Why I'll Never get Married.

2013-04-05 07:17

I could simply say, “marriage is a religious ritual, the end.” But I was also against marriage when I was still religious, back then I always argued, if marriage for religious reasons is an oath of commitment between partners and God, why would you go to a church, buy rings, book a venue, invite family (who you haven’t seen in years) and friends, sign a contract, eat cake, recite corny love messages and spend a shitload of money?

Just reading the definitions already gives you the idea that marriage is nothing more than the process within a relationship where one obtains a new label, those labels being ‘married’ and ‘husband’/’wife’.

You spend thousands celebrating the fact that, if anything, you’ve bought a bit of potential relationship ending placebo effect.

My late Grandmother used to rightly say “Spaar jou trane vir jou troudag”
