Congratulations to Mpumelelo Mkhabela on a superb article on circumcision and traffic violations.

Why is he not in politics?

He is precisely the type of person we need in Parliament to put a stop to these, and other, problems in our society.

Apart from the personal tragedy of the botched circumcisions and anguish of the affected families of those young men, who knows what might have become of those young men?

One of them may well have discovered a cure for cancer, or some other dread disease, or may have become a national leader or world leader.

And the ritual circumcision of young infants by belief systems is no less barbaric - indeed, even it is more barbaric, as those infants never had the choice of circumcision.

To be circumcised at birth is just as barbaric - even if the child does not die or become deformed as a result.

I would like to encourage more articles by Mpumelelo.

I am not even touching on the issues of education and taxi drivers, except to say that without proper education, there is no earthly chance of alleviating poverty in this country.

How is it that after 25 years of democracy our schools and education system is still in the state it is?

Of course, we know the reason - rampant theft of public money, corruption on an unprecedented scale, state capture ... we all know what has happened.
