Recognised qualifications

When you study any of the ICB course you find in each field, you are studying totally certified courses. The different courses and topics build one on top of the other. So you can study your way up from the basics to the more advanced levels. And along the way you get certificated and recognised as you complete each level.

This is a fantastic starting point for newbie job seekers. The abilities you learn will make you employable in any organisation.

Study via distance learning

Distance learning means that your home study college sends you books and study notes. Then helps you study over the phone, or email or online.

The ICB courses are perfect if you are already working, and you need to study while you work. These courses were developed in such a way to be accessible to the home study student.

A few of the characteristics making these courses easy to do for a home study student, are the following:

Step-by-step construct up of topics to courses and full certifications

More than one test session each year

Your Portfolio of Evidence - achieving part of your final make with work you do a home

Online study help and study groups

Study notes created specifically for students studying at home

Individually contact with a qualified lecturer

Study costs to keep in mind

a) Cost of textbooks (you have to determine if your course provider includes all the books and notes in the course fees).

b) Exam costs (the payments you need to make to the ICB for each exam - there is a cost per subject that you write).

c) ICBA Membership charges (you can become a Student Member of the ICBA, and there are student membership fees for this).

d) Delivery costs for home study trainees (are your courier fees included in your course fees?).

What Can I Study After I Have Completed My ICB Course?

The ICB is connected to a variety of professional bodies. So, depending upon exactly what ICB courses you have actually completed, you could go on to study further at these expert bodies.

South African Business Accountants (SAIBA).

South African Institute for Tax Professionals (SAIT).

Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA).

The Role of the ICBA – Professional Designations

The ICB is closely connected to a Professional Body called the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers and Accountants (ICBA). The ICBA is acknowledged by SAQA as a Professional Body and for the registration of 7 expert designations on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF).

These expert designations are connected to the various ICB courses. Indicating that if you study a specific ICB course, then that course, together with a particular amount of relevant work experience, can get you your professional designation from the ICBA.
