The Minister of Finance, Pravin Gordhan, has urged South Africans to “turbo-charge” their efforts, ideas and financial resources to create greater economic momentum, but unfortunately he doesn’t understand how economic growth is created. There is only one way to help the economy grow and that is to increase the total compound profitability of the whole economy. Producers, manufacturers and service providers should be allowed and supported to generate as much profit as possible within the operation of the normal market forces. The biggest problem is that the government is since 1994 dominating and capturing the economy with legislation and is trying to make it as hard and difficult as possible for everyone to create profit, growth and wealth. Economic growth is driven and created by profit and profit alone - there is not any other way! The most destructive process that the government follows, apart from corruption, is a process they call "transformation" through which they are trying to transform South Africa into an underdeveloped country where we all will eventually be equal at "ground zero" with severe famine and much bigger poverty. This will be the result of their transformation but they don’t understand it.
