In response to the open letter to Vodacom’s CEO as drafted by Mr. Faried Gordon on 25 June 2018, I would like to submit the following response to the allegations made therein.
I am the franchise owner of the Vodacom 4U store in Vangate Mall in Cape Town and as such am the direct employer of Mr. Faried Gordon. The open letter that was posted on the News24 website was done without my knowledge or sanction.
The facts contained in this open letter are an extreme oversimplification and in most cases the contents of this open letter are not factually correct in any way and do not represent an accurate picture of WASP services and V-Live services and the associated billing thereof in respect of Vodacom’s customers.
I am aware that this employee has previously written to Vodacom’s CEO office and raised his concerns regarding WASP services. I can confirm that the employee received a direct and appropriate response from the CEO’s office. I am in possession of the employee’s written correspondence in this regard as well as the response that he received. At this stage I need to confirm that I was satisfied with the response that he received and the factual correctness of this said response.
Furthermore, I would also like to state that as franchise trade partners, we have received several communications from Vodacom that have directed and assisted us as to how to help customers who have had WASP/V-Live services added to their bills. I have seen that the company has made a concerted effort to assist its customers with these issues and has also put various interventions in place at both a store and call centre level to ensure that customers can resolve their issues. It is thus with extreme surprise and concern that I came to read this employee’s post on your website yesterday.
As the employer of this member of staff, I am currently investigating why this staff member elected to make inaccurate statements in his open letter and am also investigating why he never used the avenues available to him to further discuss any concerns that he may have had regarding this matter.
