Pupils across South Africa are on tenterhooks awaiting the results for the National Senior Certificate (NSC) exams for the matric class of 2019 to be released by the Minister of Basic Education, Angie Motshekga.

The long wait can be a stressful and anxious time for parents and students.

When the results are released, those who have obtained the results they were expecting, express relief and preparations for the next stage in their lives begin.

For those who are disappointed with their results, it is not the end of the world. There is absolutely no need to panic or become embarrassed, despondent, depressed or give up on one's vision.

There are so many different paths to get you where you want to go, good matric results or all A's are not the only option.

Disappointment and failure are natural processes of the life cycle, albeit painful.

Use the unsatisfactory matric results to grow, to become stronger and resilient and use the temporary detour to achieve greater success.

Speak to your teachers or career counsellor and see what options are available to you.

Parents need to support their kids and receive the results in a mature manner instead of becoming judgemental or making unfounded statements. Congratulations to the Matric Class of 2019. As you continue your journey with the next chapter, be sure to make wise choices and decisions.
