Water levies in the Western Cape: where will it end?

11 January 2018, 13:37

We relocated to the Western Cape from Gauteng in 1981 and from that time we have seen unprecedented growth in the WC in the form of residential and commercial developments, all of which use water, electricity, etc.

However, we have not seen the construction of any dam that feeds the Cape Metropole. It is clear to us that the City of CT has not learnt anything from Biblical teachings in which it clearly states you will have 7 Lean Years and 7 Fat Years.

We have done our utmost at saving our water consumption and as senior citizens we feel it is grossly unfair for the City of CT to balance their books at the expense of the property owner. We are already paying dearly for water, rates, electricity, vehicle licences, food, etc.

If a water levy is allowed, where will it end?
