Kaya FM heart-throb Bob Mabena has been caught in the middle of a love triangle catfight involving the mother of his child, Zandi Nhlapo, and a woman known only as Eucharist.
Nhlapo, a TV presenter, has opened a case of assault against Eucharist after a clash between the two.
City Press has been told that Mabena and Eucharist recently walked into a Palazzo restaurant in Fourways where Nhlapo was dining out.
An eyewitness said Nhlapo confronted Eucharist and accused her of stealing her man.
The pair traded insults. Then, the eyewitness claimed, Eucharist attacked Nhlapo and beat her up.
Nhlapo laid a complaintof assault at Douglasdale Police Station, and Eucharist responded by opening a case of harassment against Nhlapo at another Johannesburg police station.
Eucharist, who would not reveal her full name, denied that she assaulted Nhlapo.
“I did not assault her, you got your facts wrong. Nothing like that happened,” she said.
Asked why Nhlapo had opened an assault case against her, she said: “That is between the two of us.”
Nhlapo confirmed that she had laid a complaint of assault against Eucharist, but refused to explain why Eucharist allegedly assaulted her.
“I don’t want to discuss my private life with the media. I have never done so before and won’t do it now or in the future. Please speak to my lawyer.”
Nhlapo’s lawyer, Sharusha Moodley, confirmed that there were “criminal charges pending against that woman”.
But Moodley said she and her client would not be issuing a press statement or giving interviews.
Douglasdale police spokesperson Warrant Officer Balan Muthan confirmed that Nhlapo had opened a case of assault against Eucharist and said the investigations were “under way”.
Attempts to solicit comment from Mabena drew a blank.
