Cape Town - Two dagga plantations were found in Atlantis, Cape Town, on Saturday and 153 dagga plants confiscated, the city's metro police said on Monday.
"The officers were conducting routine patrols when they noticed two men in Dassenberg Road acting suspiciously. As the officers approached, the men ran into the bushes and the officers gave chase on foot," spokesperson Deputy Chief Yolanda Faro said.
The men managed to get away but led police to a dagga plantation in an open space between the bushes.
Fifty dagga plants were confiscated, she said.
Later that afternoon police spotted the two men again on the corner of Dassenberg and Gouda roads.
"When they saw our officers, the suspects fled once again, but threw down a plastic bag containing two small dagga plants," Faro said.
During the chase the two men led police to a shack where they found another dagga plantation and 103 dagga plants were confiscated.
No arrests had been made but the owner of the shack was known to police, Faro said.
