Johannesburg - A 17-year-old girl from Noluthando School for the Deaf in Cape Town is missing, the Western Cape education department said on Wednesday.
Lumka Lengisi was last seen in a school bus on Lansdowne Road on Tuesday morning, said spokesperson Bronagh Casey.
"Searches by the police, community and educators to find Lumka have been unsuccessful."
Lengisi is a black girl, 1.5m tall, hearing impaired. She was last seen wearing a navy skirt, a white blouse, and a navy long-sleeved jersey.
"Searches by the police, community and educators to find Lumka have been unsuccessful. I urge all media to help assist SAPS in their search by appealing to communities for information," Casey said.
"The Western Cape education department is committed to doing all we can to bring Lumka safely home and we appeal to the whole province to assist us in this urgent appeal."
