Johannesburg - A Fourways bar has denied that a man shown in a video clip assaulting patrons in the venue’s bathroom is one of its bouncers.
The clip, which has gone viral, shows the man assaulting one of a group of three men because he believed they were doing drugs in the bathroom of Stones in Fourways.
The clip was uploaded to the man’s Facebook page and reposted on LiveLeak and YouTube. The man, named as Shane Myburgh by Eyewitness News, claimed to have been a bouncer at the venue.
But in a post on its Facebook page, Fourways Stones denied this.
“Upon investigation by Stones head office it had been found that Shane Myburgh and the other parties to the incident were customers,” the post stated.
“Myburgh is not and has never been an employee at Fourways Stones, as such no disciplinary action can be taken against him.”
The incident was of a personal nature, the bar said.
Myburgh claimed in a post from his now deleted Facebook page that he attacked the men because they were doing drugs.
The clip shows the three men smoking in the bathroom. A man believed to be Myburgh then punches one of them in the face.
Myburgh then tells a woman he punched the man because “they were doing drugs”.
All involved parties have now been banned from all Stones bars.
