Johannesburg – The South African Weather Service has issued hot weather warnings for five provinces.
Residents in the Free State, Gauteng, Limpopo, Mpumalanga and North West Province have been warned against fires and very hot, humid and uncomfortable conditions.
Heatwaves have been forecast for Gauteng and the North West Province on Sunday.
A maximum of 35°C was forecast for Pretoria on Sunday while Musina could expect the mercury to rise to 41°C.
An alert was sent out to residents of the Lowveld, highveld, Limpopo Valley and western Bushveld., warning that there was a big danger of veld fires.
In Cape Town, on the other hand, cold and wet conditions were forecast, with a maximum of only 16°C.
